Base pay refers to an employee's initial salary, excluding any extra benefits, bonuses, or subsequent raises. This pay is what an employee earns in return for their work. It can be calculated as an hourly wage or a regular payment received weekly, monthly, or yearly.

Base pay doesn't encompass all types of employee compensation.
